THE JOURNEY OF A MAN

Men have journeyed through legends since time immemorial.

Until they forgot the legends...

The world we live in is awash with crisis upon crisis — one of which is masculinity. The word itself has become taboo, verboten, “toxic.” Increasingly, men are racing to one side or the other of this great divide.

There are those men who, raised on a culture of social Darwinism, have learned to define themselves and their manhood through a limited and, frankly, infantile sense of masculinity — competition, force and “winning” in all areas of life. These men must always “be strong” and will hide or deny their feelings, considered a sign of “weakness.”

Many men have experienced or observed the damage and emptiness that accompanies such an immature expression of masculine energy and, in response, they are choosing to reject or disavow their masculine essence entirely. This approach assumes that the very concept of masculinity, and not its perverted expression, is the problem.

At Galliant Trainings, we believe that each of these extremes denies the ultimate truth of what it means to be a Man in this world — that we are not one thing or another but, in fact, everything in one. Carl Jung said, “The opposites always balanced one another – a sign of high culture. One-sidedness, though it lends momentum, is a mark of barbarism.”

MEN ARE SEEKING INTEGRATION AND WHOLENESS

We see energy and life from a mythological perspective, as one that blends spirit, psychology and matter. Men have forgotten their inherent wholeness and are called, consciously or not, to integrate or re-member all that they are. To re-member is to take the disparate elements (or member parts) and form a new, unified whole.

When you re-member and stand in the fullness of your true self, you are in a position of real power and choice. You are sovereign! To be clear, this work does not promote arrogance or selfishness! Wholeness is rooted in deep respect, awareness and responsibility for who you choose to be in the world, including how you show up and what you create.

ARCHETYPES AS GUIDES

A useful starting point for a Man’s journey back to wholeness is the introduction of Archetypes — mythological models or patterns of behaviours. We use Masculine, Feminine and Universal Archetypes to shed light on the path of a Man’s integration.

Archetypes are helpful guides, like being given a map for the journey ahead. But as anyone who has ever used a map for hiking or exploring will tell you, “The map is not the territory.” The real work is for a man to determine what any particular Archetype means for him — to learn when and how to look to them for guidance in his life.

Make no mistake.

This is powerful stuff!

CONSCIOUS CREATING

With the maps of Archetypes in his pocket, a Man can then choose where he wants to go in his personal and professional life. It’s one thing to have an understanding of yourself and your wholeness. It’s another thing to know what to do with that.

A Conscious Creator is someone who uses the structures of consciousness to create what he wants in this world, as a true and meaningful expression of his heart. At Galliant Trainings, we help you realise and acknowledge what you WHAT in life and then HOW to actually create that.

FELLOWSHIP OF OTHER MEN

One consequence, or perhaps even cause, of the crisis outlined above is that men have largely abandoned or forgotten meaningful connection and fellowship with other men.

So the final thing to note is that this is Group Work! It is certainly true that each Man is on his own journey. And yet, as the very nature of Archetypes illustrates, you are here to learn, support and share in the journey back to wholeness in the company of other men.

It’s not about competition or comparison. In fact, this work utterly transcends those concepts. As a Man, if you search deep in your heart, you will hear the call to celebrate your masculinity and what it means to be your own Man with your brothers! I hope to see you there.

We have to accept the possibility that the true radiant energy in the male does not hide in, reside in, or wait for us in the feminine realm, nor in the macho/John Wayne realm, but in the magnetic field of the deep masculine.
