THE JOURNEY OF WE

“Every living organism is fulfilled when it follows the right path for its own nature.”

— Marcus Aurelius

Your organisation is like any other organism in Nature. It is a singular entity composed of individual components that work together to carry out the functions of life and vitality, in whatever business or area of society it operates.

Take a moment to reflect on your own human organism. When all the elements are working together, the system is working in harmony where the potential and impact of the whole is much greater than the sum of the parts. Not only do you feel balanced and complete, you are focused, energised and capable to create beyond assumed limitations.

It does not take much for that same human organism to fail or become severely out of balance, due to the failure of even one part. The ancient myth of Achilles is relevant here. His mother dipped him in the River Styx, which made him impervious to any harm. Except that she held him by his heel, which was his only weakness and ultimately the source of his demise. In our own bodies or lives, even when only one part or aspect is out of balance it can cascade into others and often at exponential cost.

ORGANISATIONAL BEHAVIOUR

The behaviour of human organisations or departments within an organisation can be divided into four basic modes of operation:

1.     INERT

Nothing much happens or changes. People may be sitting around doing very little or just doing things as they have always been done so there is no energy or innovation within the organisation.

2.     DIRECTIVE

This is the way of most traditional organisations – activities are directed or dictated from the top down. These organisations often display levels of efficiency and they may accomplish things. But studies show that there is diminishing loyalty and real engagement from employees. Increasingly, these companies are losing their best workers whose true contribution and potential is not being valued or recognised.

3.     DISPERSIVE

Many entrepreneurial and start-up companies fall into this category. People are doing things (often feverishly) but in an un-coordinated manner. These organisations may go through their own mini boom and bust cycles where there is briefly a lot of functional activity followed by periods of chaos and floundering.

4.     COHESIVE

Activities are directed by the contribution of every individual, where each individual acts in service of the group rather than in favour of their own identity. Far from being a surrender of individuality, however, this work is born out of everyone contributing their heart and true value. Each individual becomes a channel for one thread of the tapestry the group consciousness is able to weave. What is surrendered is the need to control other people and their contributions.

SYNERGY IS THE SOLUTION

Cohesion, or synergy, is demonstrated by a flock of birds turning as one in mid-air. Each bird has given up its individuality and become one with the flock consciousness.

Galliant Trainings guides organisations through the advanced practice of Synergy. This is an intuitive process whereby everybody inputs to a Vision and End Result for the organisation. More than that, everybody gets what they want out of that Vision. In this way, everybody has personal buy-in and fulfilment in creating the Vision.

Your organisation is no different than any other organism in Nature. If you can leverage the contribution and potential of every single one of its component parts, it will perform beyond all assumed limitations. But if you over-emphasise or neglect one or several aspects, it may well falter like an Olympic athlete with an Achilles heel.

COMBINE THE PAST AND THE FUTURE

Your organisation and the individuals who form it almost certainly have a great deal of experience. Sometimes we are not even aware that we are resting on our past experience or repackaging what has always been done without allowing new insights and awareness to emerge.

Synergy is not about throwing the baby out with the bath water. Whilst acknowledging the foundations of the past, there is an opportunity to let go of orthodox assumptions and to step into a future where anything is possible.

Galliant Trainings also combines the past with the future. Taylor Roark leads our Synergy Programme and combines nearly 20 years of legal, strategic and commercial advice in corporate transactions around the world with leading-edge understanding and facilitation of creative consciousness and intuition to guide your organisation into its true, synergistic potential.
